About Me

My name is Simeon Wakely and I have Spina Bifida and something called Hydrocephalus. I have created this website to raise awareness of what it is like to live with Spina Bifida and also to support young people who have similar challenges. When I was 7, I became aware that I could not walk and realised that I was different from other people. However, I did not fully understand why and did not know about spina bifida. This realisation happened one day when I was at school and it was only later that evening that I was able to talk to my parents about it. They were really upset that I had found it out at school and not from them. It can be quite lonely and scary to discover that you are different. I want to help young people who are dealing with their disability. So, I will be posting regular blogs to give people the chance to join in with the conversation. I will also be posting short videos interviewing people about their stories and how they have coped living with Spina Bifida.

I am so pleased that you are able to help other people Simeon. You have matured so much since the early days of Ralph Allen.
